CANARIES for the Community (CFTC) completed a two-day project at Priory Gardens in Wymondham last weekend.

Thirty Norwich City volunteers,including staff from sponsors Norwich Union, weeded the whole park, planted around 100 new flowers and shrubs, painted the park benches, trimmed hedges and painted both sides of a 150-foot long fence adjacent to the local bowling club.

Jeremy Goss, in his role as NCFC Community Ambassador, helped on both days and City Chief Executive Neil Doncaster worked on Saturday morning before dashing off to continue the latest transfer negotiations.

Also painting on Saturday afternoon was Darren Bloodworth, Academy Education Officer, together with five first year Academy players.

CFTC Founder and Project Manager, Duncan MacInnes, was delighted with what was achieved and said: "It is great to be out helping in the community. Many local people have stopped to speak to us over the two days and all expressed their great appreciation of what we were doing."

On Saturday morning Neil Doncaster presented the Mayor of Wymondham with a commerorative CFTC plaque.
