NORWICH City's community initiative 'Canaries for the Community' supported by Aviva has announced two forthcoming summer projects.

This Saturday, June 7, a group of 17 volunteers drawn from the Club's supporter base and including scheme founder Duncan MacInnes and Club Community Ambassador Jeremy Goss, will be undertaking maintenance work at the Maddermarket Theatre in Norwich.

They will he helping to decorate the café and cutting back shrubs in the theatre garden to create a seating area.

Canaries for the Community will also be visiting Lowestoft Town Football Club on July 4, where Norwich City and Town staff will be decorating club social facilities and the dressing rooms at Crown Meadow.

The scheme, which was established back in 2003, has undertaken other successful projects at community venues and local football clubs around the county. The scheme also involves Duncan MacInnes visiting patients in the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital each week during the season to show patients the highlights of City matches on a laptop computer, using the Club's on-line TV subscription service CanariesWorld.

Andrew Cullen, Norwich City's Director of Sales and Marketing, said: "We are fortunate to receive so much support from the local community and the two annual summer volunteer initiatives provide us with a marvellous opportunity to help others. The Maddermarket is one of the county's important and historic institutions whereas the work at Lowestoft Town enables us to make a small contribution towards supporting the game at grassroots level."
