MATTHEW Pattison has made an instant impact since arriving on loan from Newcastle United - and the stats prove it.

The 21-year-old was again among the thick of things on Tuesday night, setting up the opening goal for Dion Dublin in the 3-1 win at Blackpool.

That assist completed a hat-trick for Pattison, who also supplied the ammunition for both goals in the 2-0 victory over Coventry just three days earlier.

That debut display earned Pattison the honour of being named the second best midfielder in the Championship for the weekend, according to statistic provided by the Actim Index.

The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula which rates every players' contribution - whether it be goals, assists, tackles, passes, dribbles, crosses, saves, clearances or blocks.

Pattison's two assists saw him shoot up the chart, posting 37 points and giving boss Glenn Roeder with an instant return after bringing him to Norfolk on an emergency loan.

However, Norwich have just two players in the top 100 for the Actim Index statistics for the season so far.

Goalkeeper David Marshall, also the hero in midweek with a penalty save at Bloomfield Park, is the highest ranked in 80th place (13th ranked goalkeeper) followed closely by Jon Otsemobor in 93rd position (31st ranked defender).

After that it is slim pickings for City, with Jamie Cureton and Darren Huckerby in 192nd and 193rd place respectively. The next to feature is Simon Lappin in 209th position.

So far it has been left to arch rivals Ipswich to lead the way in the Actim Index, with strikers Alan Lee and Jonathan Walters in first and second spot.
