CITY boss Glenn Roeder was hugely disappointed by City's 2-1 derby defeat against Ipswich at Portman Road.

"It's hugely disappointing, not least because of the great start we got off to, but we didn't take hold of the game and let it slip through our fingers.

"It was an unfortunate goal off Pearce that let them get back in it, I wouldn't wish that on anyone, especially in such a game as this.

"Overall, it's just hugely disappointing for the staff, players and supporters.

Asked if the loss meant more as it was a local derby, Roeder said: "I've never lost a game and been happy.  We didn't retain the ball like we did against Bristol.  We were outstanding at Bristol, we passsed and had chances.  Today we've lost by the same scoreline but we were nowhere near that level of performance. We didn't pass like we can and in certain areas just didn't get on top.

Roeder confirmed that Canaries' Captain Mark Fotheringham was missing from the squad that travelled to Ipswich because of a neck injury sustained in training.  But although he was a miss this was no excuse for the final result.

"He's in form and the captain and it didn't help, but that's no excuse, I believe it gives someone else an opportunity.

"Of course it's a challenge to us now and I expect a massive response next week against West Brom."
