HUCKERBY'S DERBY VERDICT
CANARY winger Darren Huckerby felt City's East Anglian rivals Ipswich deserved their 2-1 success at Portman Road.
Norwich got off to a flying start thanks to a great strike from Ched Evans after only four minutes - but an unfortunate own goal from Alex Pearce levelled the game and a resurgent Town went on to claim all three points thanks to a winner from Danny Haynes.
Huckerby told CanariesWorld: "I thought they were the better team on the day and they could have won by more. After a great start we got sloppy and let them back in the game and after that there was only going to be one winner.
"It was the perfect start, In the first 10 minutes I thought we were the stronger team as we were getting in behind them. Then the own goal swayed things in their favour and after that they were the better team."
Huckerby paid tribute to David Marshall for making some good saves to keep the score at 2-1 as Town threatened on several occasions to add further goals to the scoresheet.
"It could have been a lot worse. They carved us up quite a few times and other than for Marshy it could have been a lot more.
"We wouldn't have deserved it but you never know if you keep going to the end something can drop for you but it didn't and I don't think we deserved it to drop."
Now Hucks has set his sights firmly on getting the points required to improve the Canaries' league position - starting with the visit of high-flying West Brom on Saturday.
"It's definitely not over but we have two home games coming up and we will be looking to get good points out of them. They may be tough but we have two winnable games at home.
"I'm confident that we will stay up but like I say we definitely still need a win and will be looking for that next week."
