CITY left-back and long-term injury absentee Adam Drury has admitted it's been very frustrating watching the Canaries from the stands in recent months but says his recovery is going well.

Drury has been missing from the Canaries' line-up since October when he limped out of the game with Bristol City and subsequently had an operation on his right knee for ligament damage.  Recovery has been slow but steady for Drury with any return for City likely to be in the summer's pre-season schedule.

Speaking to CanariesWorld the 29 year-old said: "I'm going quite well to be honest, they are holding me back a little bit because they obviously want me to be fully fit and ready to go in pre-season .

"I'm back out running, doing ball work and other bits and pieces and it's all going very well.  It's just frustrating not being involved because at the end of the week everyone gets to play in a game and I don't get to do that."

The left-back will be in the stands again this Saturday, supporting his team mates at Carrow Road for Saturday's important match with QPR.  "For me this season has been exactly like being a fan but a fan who knows he could be playing. Obviously I'm just rooting for the lads to get the job done on Saturday. That's what it's all about and that's what we want to happen," he said.

"I'm not a good spectator. Obviously I want to go and watch to support the lads but if I had the choice I'd rather just turn the TV on and find out the score at the end of the game on Saturday when it's all done and dusted. It's just hard not being part of it."

During Drury's six month injury lay-off the Club has appointed a new manager and the defender said it was a bit of strange situation with Glenn Roeder and his management team having never seen him play, but their support during this time had been important to him.

"Obviously it has been very frustrating, I haven't trained for one with the new manager yet and not played a game because I was injured when he came in but that is what pre-season is going to be for, to get myself fit and get back involved.

"It has been a weird situation but they have all been good to me, Glenn and all the coaching staff and the physios have kept me involved.

And it's the manager's interest and his ability to keep injured players involved that has kept Drury motivated during this difficult and frustrating time.

"It makes a massive difference because when you are injured be it long-term or short-term you don't really feel part of it when the lads win - although you are happy for them you still don't feel involved and when they lose you are gutted but you don't get the same feeling that they do.

"He has done his best to keep me involved and has checked on me everyday, and now I'm back outside running about doing ball work I can watch the lads and see what is going on as well.

"I'm just looking forward to pre-season, it's not very often that you say that but I am looking forward to it."
