CITY winger Lee Croft has echoed the comments of his manager saying that Norwich owe it to the other clubs in the relegation battle to put on a good performance at Hillsborough on Sunday, kick-off 2pm.

After the Canaries 3-0 win over QPR last Saturday at Carrow Road, City travel to Sheffield Wednesday without having to worry about relegation on the last day of the campaign. It was a great day at Carrow Road for fans and players alike and Crofty said that the feeling had continued at Colney.

"The atmosphere at the training ground is brilliant. Obviously we are safe now and we can actually look forward to going into Sheffield Wednesday knowing that our status in the Championship is secured for next year."

City's hosts on Sunday are still tied-up in the relegation battle and are one of five sides who may join Scunthorpe and Colchester United in League One next year.

The Owls sit in 20th place on 52 points with Leicester and Southampton occupying the two places below on 51 points. A win against City would see Wednesday safe, but Croft explained that the Canaries wouldn't be going to Hillsborough to gift the homeside three points.

"If we were in the position and we were relying on someone else getting the result for us we wouldn't expect them to go there and throw the towel in," said the City midfielder.

"We will do the right thing and go there and put on a good performance and get the three points just like we try and do in any other game, treating other teams as we would like to be treated."

With the return of Luke Chadwick from his shoulder operation, competition for places in midfield has intensified. Croft's last appearance was a fleating one during the East Anglian Derby where the midfielder came on as a sub before coming off again after 27 minutes with a cut to the head and Lee explained it had been difficult being on the touchline.

"It has been frustrating obviously, if you ask any professional not playing football is frustrating", he said.

"But the season is close to being finished so hopefully I can come back after the summer and the pre-season and get back into the first eleven."
