CHRIS Martin maintained his good form for City's reserves with the only goal in a 1-0 win at Stevenage.

The 19-year-old struck shortly before the break to give Paul Stephenson's team all three points in the Pontins Holiday Clash at Broadhall Way.

That made it eight goals in his last four reserve outings for Martin, who has struggled to force his way into Glenn Roeder's first team this season.

It was the home side who almost opened the scoring when Ben Hunt forced Matthew Gilks into a smart save to his right. City then began to impose themselves on the game when Luke Daley, who has been offered a professional contract by the Canaries, saw a header saved by 'keeper Clark Masters.

Robert Eagle was enjoying himself on the left of midfield, and he supplied a cross to Martin which the striker nodded over. Bally Smart then saw a deflected effort saved by Masters before the home 'keeper produced a superb one-handed stop to keep out Martin following good approach play by Daley.

But on 44 minutes Martin was finally on target, starting and finishing a move with Eagle finding him with a low cross.

Damon Lathrope, who recently signed professional terms with the Club, was involved in much of City's good play, pulling the strings in the middle of the park, and in the second half he almost capped a fine performance with a goal when he headed just wide from Rossi Jarvis' cross.

Stevenage kept pushing for an equaliser though, and they came close late on when City sub Paul McLean was forced to clear off his own goal line.
